On Demand Production Workshops

On Demand Production Workshops

English · Art · Drama · Dance · Performing Arts · Digital Media · Entertainment

Design your own workshop to suit your classroom needs.

THE CREW offers a one-day video production workshop in our media facility at Miranda, Southern Sydney. Designed for year 9–12 students, the workshops are 'hands on' intensives taking students through the processes, techniques, technology and principles related to television and media production.

Our studio is a multi-camera live production facility with up to 6 edit stations if required, plus a wide range of lighting and audio equipment. The equipment students use is 'state of the art' while also being suitable for the high-school environment.

This is 'Design a Workshop' — each workshop can be tailored to the specific needs and curriculum requirements of your class. We cater for up to 25 students per workshop (minimum 15).

What we can cover

Typical workshops

1. General Workshop

An introductory workshop providing an overview of the principles, processes and equipment used in the video production environment. A range of activities introduces students to basic camera work, live production, lighting, audio, acquisition and editing.

2. Dance Workshop

Students take part in planning and conducting a live video shoot of a dance sequence. Session 1 takes the dance class through the relevant techniques and principles; in session 2 students record their own pre-prepared dance using what they learned.

3. Drama Workshop

Students brainstorm, rehearse and film a re-planned drama sequence. The day opens with an introduction to equipment and processes, then swings to planning and producing a short drama sequence — the class becomes the crew and selected members provide the talent.

4. Music Workshop

Students record and film a musical performance from a member of their team. Session 1 walks them through multi-track recording, lighting and video production in general; in session 2 they brainstorm and execute an approach to recording and filming a performance.
